Do you offer on-site repairs for wheelchair vans?

Yes. AutoCrafting is an authorized VMI dealer but we sell and service all types of mobility van conversions, handicap lifts, and mobility driving devices. Our highly trained and certified Service Technicians are available to fix any issues that you might be having with your wheelchair accessible vehicle or equipment.

What if something happens to my wheelchair accessible vehicle in the middle of the night or on the weekend?

Please call our afterhours number at: 585-737-9862 and leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

I can't make it down to your store to shop for my new van. Can you come out?

Yes. We love in-home demonstrations. It gives you the chance to have your whole family there and try the new or used handicap van in your own environment. Just pick a van, and we'll bring it out to you at no-charge.

Why is the price set the way it is?

The final price is a combined cost of the van AND the mobility conversion. What will determine the overall price is what you want out of the van and options (i.e.: Toyota Sienna Limited versus Dodge Grand Caravan SE). The conversions are priced very closely and do not generally affect overall price.

Who will assist with funds for me?

New York State may have funds available upon application and approval of your case. Sometimes this can take up to 6 months or longer. Please see our Disability Assistance page for more information.

I am a disabled Veteran. How do I obtain a mobility van?

If the VA has provided you with a wheelchair or scooter, you are entitled to a lift for your existing vehicle or a mobility conversion to transport that equipment. Depending on your diagnosis or if your disability is service connected or not, either will be provided. Call us; we'll work with your local VA to help you start the process. We are very experienced with Veterans policy and procedures.

Does Medicare pay for vans?

No. Due to Medicare guidelines and policy the vehicle conversion is a "deluxe item" only to be used outside the home, for which that equipment Medicare does not deem "medically necessary".

I don't have the money to pay for a wheelchair van upfront. Do you offer any payment plans?

Yes, we will work with you to arrange financing that fits your budget. With our traditional and long term financing options we can make purchasing a wheelchair van possible for just about anyone.

Since I am going to purchase a wheelchair van, I will no longer need my current vehicle. What can I do with my current vehicle?

Trade it in for a wheelchair van. AutoCrafting accepts all trade-ins, no matter if the vehicle is modified or un-modified.

Can you convert my current vehicle into a handicap accessible vehicle?

In most cases, it is not recommended to try and convert your current vehicle into a handicap accessible vehicle (with a lift or ramp and lowered floor) because of all the safety and comfort factors that have to be taken into consideration. Most vehicles simply cannot be converted. It is easier, safer and less costly to trade in your current vehicle and purchase a handicap accessible vehicle.

What kind of selection of wheelchair vans will I have available to me?

We have the largest adaptive vehicle inventory in New York State. Our selection consists of minivans, full size conversion vans, and paratransit vehicles.

What kind of warranties do you offer on your wheelchair vans?

The warranty of our new full-size wheelchair vans and Minivans is 3 year 36,000 miles on the converted equipment.

What kind of safety precautions does, and should, your staff have in the vehicle modification industry?

All of AutoCrafting’s locations are QAP certified through the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), resulting in AutoCrafting being held to the highest standards in the industry.

What kind of training programs do your technicians go through in order to service wheelchair vehicles?

All of our Service Technicians are certified in every product line they are involved in and attend various training sessions throughout the year to keep current in the modified vehicle industry.
